Interesting name right. Hope everyone is well and has enjoyed the updates on the blog recently. I really wanted to share the trip Jacob and I took back in the summer, to this haven of neon goodness. Lights on for this one!
Well the location for this spot is located in East London and is a must visit for anyone who wants to do something a little different. Let me introduce to you to the brilliant:
God’s Own Junkyard 🚥
The name suits this warehouse of wonders and the atmosphere is unreal in person. Every direction you turn inside the facilty you are faced with a different sign. No space was every left dull. I decided to plan this trip entirely for Jacob’s birthday when we went. Unfortunately it wasn’t until on the day that he told me he had visited it before. Even though the surprise was ruined, we still have a lovely day visiting.
I dont know if any of you reading have noticed this. But pop artists such as Iggy Azalea and K-Pop powerhouses such as Black Pink, have repeatedly featured neon light installations and concepts in their music videos. Over the last few years I’ve seen a huge influx on my screens and I am here for it!!
The Neon Man ✨
This entire collection is owned by the acclaimed ‘Neon Man’, Chris Bracey for the last 37 years. His neon sign portfolio is one of the biggest out there. Salvaging, collecting, reclaimed used and new signs often once forgotten, discarded, or broken. This neon art is a clusterfuck (great word) of brilliance! His collection really speaks for itself and has been featured in many films, singers music videos and fashion photoshoots.
The best thing to do is scroll through the very large collection of photos that I took whist we visited. Honestly though if you ever get the chance to go, do it. They have a bar where you can order a coffee or drink whilst you sit underneath the glow from these lights. Check out the pieces that I snapped whilst I was there.
Babes Babes Babes
“Spotted, Tommy wearing a super cute @justdoitbabes t-shirt. You heard from me first babes, XOXO Gossip Girl”
You can check out the t-shirt which I wore on the day through this link below. I dedicated a blog post, so go check it out. Jacob helped me shoot an outfit in Poland and I talked about @justdoitbabes and why you need to know them.
