I am still recovering from this bug I have and luckily can find some way to crush this soul binding boredom. I’m one of those people that if I am ill, I just get on with everything. Sitting still and resting not so much.
But since I am back on the blog, I wanted to talk about capes.
Woah careful, Batman and Superman? Sorry chaps, I’m talking about the ultimate menswear accessory. The formal and casual, almost royal etiquette, that drapes over broad shoulders and can define an entire outfit.
It wasn’t until 2012, when the elite of the fashion world graced the runways, with imperial robe like capes. The majestic attire lifted menswear imminently.
Now coming to 2015, I’ve noticed over the past few months that high street brands, have adorned the cape for their own collection. And more men, yes, that is me and you as the public, are wearing capes in our everyday wardrobes.
With the idea that capes are now becoming normalised as comfortable pieces of clothing, I expect to see more gents wearing them. There are of course, many varied takes on the cape and therefore, something to suit everyone’s taste. Just no bold red capes?
A very popular Victorian piece of clothing that was worn to formal events. It was elegant and débuted class.
So these photos are all from the top designers of the world. The elite designs and styles, but for me, I stumbled across this one from Boohoo.com
It favours a poncho style, with a leather look for a proud street vibe. Tempted to buy one for my Lookbook account.
It is that time to come to an end, but I hope you have enjoyed it. Men need to start wearing capes, and if I happen to be the one to do it, then so be it!
I came to London to explore fashion and have the confidence to wear the styles I enjoy and write about. There are some smashing styles out there and I plan to help share and wear them all.
