So on one of my social network accounts I often reblog to my page, articles I think are smashing, from music to fashion to art, (also the occasional cat video). But I came across an online page through Nylon Magazine that really hit me. The kind of force that stops you mid sen…..
Ok I might be over exaggerating but upon opening the link I wasn’t sure what i’d find. I was to be pleasantly surprised!! The brand is called Wildfox.
Nylon magazine managed to review their Spring 2014 collection. A very island girl theme inspired these designs. Fun, edgy and completely unique to any beachwear I’ve ever seen. The designs use a lobster print and simple design to give a retro appeal to their look. Below are some shots, I can’t help but play Lana Del Rey in my head whilst I looked at these.
The photos are timely and a piece of escapism. The models are extremely beautiful and against the designs create a perfect mood to each photo. Very 50’s-80’s approach from this fashion label was my first though after browsing previous collections. The designs take that nostalgic inspired era and promote it through fresh concepts. I’ve noticed each promotional fashion shoot for their collections are unique and different yet keeping that Wildfox signature brand style.
I see a lot of Twiggy in their inspiration and looking at their blog had other iconic women of the past on their mood board. It isn’t just famous ladies but also movies too. Wildfox explains to Nylon that the designs for this collection were inspired by the movie Blue Lagoon, island girl with long mermaid hair and I think it’s delivered it perfectly!
I really am glad I have stumbled across this label as its exactly what I love in a brand, its strong, unique, creative concepts and holds its own. Its just a shame they do not do menswear!!
Big fan of their work and will continue to watch out for their new collections! I suggest you readers do the same, why would you want to miss out on any of it!
Let me know what you think in the comment box below
I will link their website below too and I want to review their previous collections and style a bit more in the future also!
Many thanks for reading and thank you to Nylon magazine for writing about Wildfox!
